Marina Kim has had a passion for drawing since childhood. One of her earliest memories is of a paintbrush journeying across sheets of paper, creating adventures and expressing her feelings through vibrant colours. Growing up, Marina continually invented stories and crafted toys, first for herself and later for her younger brother.
Her deep-seated desire to create led her to pursue an artistic career. Marina earned her BFA in Design Arts in 1999. During her studies, she mastered academic drawing and painting and discovered her love for textile design, particularly through the batik technique. After graduating, she worked as a graphic designer before moving to Canada, where she freelanced, developing corporate identities for various clients. Her journey then took her into the world of jewellery design. Marina graduated from George Brown College’s Jewellery Arts program in 2019, where she received several awards and won The 16th Annual National Jewellery Student Competition in Ottawa.
Marina’s artistic journey spans various techniques, including traditional drawing and painting, batik, graphic design, illustration, jewellery, and lino printing. Driven by curiosity and a passion for exploration, she continuously seeks out new creative avenues. Currently, her work delves into the symbolism of dreams, a theme she explores through her graphic creations.
A highly creative individual, Marina is eager to share her knowledge and experience. She believes in the inherent talent of everyone and encourages others to express themselves through their own unique artistic voices.
